Dear Freshman,
Do you have to commute to school? Did you decide to work and be a full-time student? At first, the transition into adulthood could seem scary. However, do not stress yourself out about the decision you decided to make. I also made that decision and at times it was stressful. However by following the tips I have provided, your stress can be tamed.
My first year at Cal State LA I took fourteen units and worked thirty hours per week. I also had to commute 120 miles per day from Monday to Thursday from August 21, 2017 to December 7, 2017. At times, I was lazy and I did not want to do anything. Sometimes I felt overwhelmed and wished my circumstances were better. The one thing that kept me on track was organization.
I cannot stress how important it is to either use your phone or a planner to keep track of your life. There were moments I felt as if I was not accomplishing anything in my life; that was until I looked at the tasks I did complete on my planners. Yes, I said planners!! I keep a daily, weekly, and monthly planner. I am not suggesting that you have that many but being organize can prevent you from making bad decisions. For example, procrastinating that paper that your professor gave you one month to work on.
Being organized can help minimize the stress of transition into adulthood. I have provided a visual interpretation of my advice to you. I hope this was helpful for you. Have a wonderful educational journey, you can do this.
